Bookkeeping and Financial Records

We keep your books clean, current, and organized every month — so you always know exactly where your business stands and tax season never catches you off guard.

What is bookkeeping, exactly?

Bookkeeping is simply the process of recording all the money that moves through your business. Every sale, every expense, every payment — all of it gets organized into a clear, accurate record. Think of it like keeping a very detailed financial diary for your business.

Without it, you are flying blind. You will not know if your business is actually profitable. Your tax bill becomes a guessing game. If a bank asks to see your financials for a loan, you will have nothing to show them. And when tax season arrives, you will be scrambling through months of receipts trying to piece everything together at the last minute.

Good bookkeeping means you can answer one simple question at any point in the year: how is my business doing? Clean records give you that answer clearly and quickly.

How it works

A simple five-step process that keeps your books current without any effort on your part.

01

We connect to your accounts

You give us secure read-only access to your bank and credit card statements. No paper required. Everything is handled online.

02

We categorize every transaction

Every dollar that comes in or goes out gets assigned to the right category. Office supplies, client payments, software subscriptions — all sorted correctly.

03

We reconcile your accounts

We cross-check your records against your bank statements to make sure every number lines up. If something does not match, we find it and fix it.

04

You receive a monthly summary

At the end of each month, you get a clear report showing exactly what your business earned, what it spent, and where you stand financially.

05

Your books are always ready

When tax season arrives, there is nothing to scramble for. Your accountant gets a clean, organized file — and your return gets filed faster with fewer questions.

Common questions

Do I need bookkeeping if I am just a freelancer or sole proprietor?

Yes. Even if you work alone and have simple income, the CRA still expects you to report your income and expenses accurately. Without organized records, you will likely miss deductions you are entitled to — and you may have trouble if the CRA ever asks you to prove your numbers. Bookkeeping does not have to be complicated, but it does need to happen.

What if my books are months or years behind?

That is one of the most common situations we deal with. We offer catch-up and cleanup bookkeeping specifically for this. Tell us how far back you need to go and we will work through it systematically. Once it is done, we set you up on a monthly routine so it never falls behind again.

What accounting software do you use?

We work primarily with QuickBooks Online and Xero. If you already have one of these set up, we connect to your existing account. If you are starting fresh, we help you choose the right platform and get it configured properly for your type of business.

How often will I receive reports?

Monthly. At the close of each month, you receive a summary of your income and expenses. If you need more frequent updates — for example, if you are managing cash flow closely — we can discuss a schedule that works for you.

What is the difference between bookkeeping and accounting?

Bookkeeping is the ongoing recording of financial transactions — the day-to-day tracking of money in and out. Accounting uses those records to prepare financial statements, file tax returns, and provide advice. Think of bookkeeping as the foundation and accounting as what gets built on top of it. We handle both.

Do I need to come into an office?

No. Everything is done online. You share documents securely through our client portal, we do the work, and you receive your reports by email. Most clients never meet us in person and are perfectly comfortable with the process.
